Privacy Policy
CalendarSync ("we," "the app") helps students turn a course syllabus into calendar events. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does with your information — and, importantly, what it does not do.
The short version: Your syllabus is read inside your own web browser and is never uploaded to us or stored on our servers. When you choose to add events to Google Calendar, the app only creates the events you approved — it never reads, edits, or deletes anything already on your calendar, and we never see your calendar.
Information the app handles
When you upload or paste a syllabus, the app reads its text locally in your browser to find dates, assignments, and exams. This content is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us or saved anywhere by us.
If you choose to connect Google Calendar and tap "Add to my calendar," you sign in through Google's secure sign-in. This gives the app permission only to add new events to your calendar.
How we use Google user data
CalendarSync requests a single Google permission:
- See, edit, share, and permanently delete calendars you can access using Google Calendar is not requested. We use only the narrower Google Calendar events permission (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events), and we use it in one direction only: to create the events you selected from your syllabus.
We do not read your existing events, we do not modify or delete events the app didn't create in that session, and we do not access any other calendars. The access token stays in your browser for that session and is used only to send your chosen events to Google.
Data storage and sharing
We do not store your syllabus, your calendar data, or your Google information on any server. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties. There is no advertising and no tracking of your calendar activity.
Google API Services User Data Policy
CalendarSync's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access
You can remove CalendarSync's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings, under Security → Third-party access.
Children's privacy
CalendarSync is intended for students in higher education and is not directed at children under 13.
